We are passionate about beautiful nails. It’s our only business… providing the safest and most effective solutions to nail problems for women worldwide. Our commitment to making the best products possible is based on our four Fundamental Values, which are at the heart of everything we do. Staying true to our values, Anise Cosmetics is a company we're proud to run and work for.
Anise has partnered with the Campaign for Safe Cosmetics and the Breast Cancer Fund to help curb the manufacture and distribution of unsafe cosmetics. We have pledged not to use chemicals that are known or suspected of causing cancer, birth defects or other serious health problems for women. Other leading nail color and treatment brands use these cancer-causing toxic chemical ingredients, including formaldehyde, toluene and dibutyl phthalate. We never have and never will use such chemicals. To us, the word “toxic” means only one thing. It is bad for a woman’s health.
At Anise we don’t use legal but questionable ingredients that can put a woman’s health at risk. We strongly believe in being proactive and a leader by applying a precautionary principle to always replace suspect ingredients with safer alternatives. We hope that other nail care brands will begin to follow our approach.
Anise publicly opposes the testing of any of its products or ingredients on animals. We are, also, committed to support a 100% vegetarian ingredients policy. To insure that our practices meet the highest standards, we require the strictest compliance by all of our ingredient suppliers.
In recognition of our cruelty-free position, Anise has been certified by both PETA and the Leaping Bunny Organization. We comply with the Humane Cosmetics Standard in the United Kingdom. To communicate our commitment to customers and retailers, each of our Nail-Aid division’s product packages is labeled No Animal Testing and No Animal By-Products.
As a woman-owned business, Anise believes in the empowerment of women and the nurturing of their leadership and entrepreneurial skills. Anise supports the Green Belt Movement International (“GBMI”) and its founder, the 2004 Nobel Peace Prize Laureate, Dr. Wangari Maathai. The movement started in Kenya with the simple step of digging a hole and planting a tree… the planting of hope.
Addressing a wide range of issues that directly affect the lives of women and their families, including education, access to water, equity, and reproductive health, GBMI provides women the know-how to improve their lives and the lives of others. The promise of GBMI is to share the Kenyan success with other countries in Africa.
Anise is committed to the environment and the supporting of sustainable development. To counteract the global warming impact of carbon dioxide emissions and to prevent air pollution, Anise and its divisions are carbon neutral. Anise purchases renewable wind energy credits from Green Mountain Energy Company (greenmountain.com) and has partnered with American Forests (americanforests.org) through their Global ReLeaf Tree Planting program. We are the only nail care company that has taken this proactive commitment to immediately reduce our impact on the environment.
We are passionate in our efforts to use reusable and recyclable packaging materials… to use the most environmentally friendly packaging systems available to reduce waste. Unlike other nail color and treatment brands, we never have or will use non-biodegradable plastic packaging for our products. We only use 100% recyclable and environmentally responsible cardboard packaging. Our goal is to always leave the smallest footprint on the environment and set an example for other nail care companies to follow.
